Jorge Luis Perez already had many years of musical experience before entering the world of Flamenco in 1987.

He began his formal training in 1989 when he was granted sponsorship from the Spanish Embassy in Havana to begin his studies in Spain. Basing himself first in Sevilla and then in Huelva (Andalucia), Jorge Luis received instructions from respected guitarist Mario Escudero, as well as the talented Jose Luis Rodriguez. While in Spain, Jorge Luis became the first Latin American to be awarded, Honorary Member of the Pena Flamenca de Huelva, giving him the opportunity to accompany such greats as, Eduardo Garrocho, Manolo Castilla, and the incomparable Paco Toronjo.

In addition, he has also been featured in festivals such as Michigan’s International Festival of World Music and Dance, the University of New Mexico’s Festival Flamenco Internacional, and most recently at the second Festival Internacional de Flamenco Garcia Lorca in San Jose, Costa Rica.
